Jayhawks defense faces potent offense

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Soccer team (3-4) went on the road to face the Lakers of Lakeland Community College (8-1).  The Jayhawks defense held its ground for the first 19 minutes of play but then the Lakers scored 2 goals in 32 seconds to take a quick 2-0 lead.  The score remained this way at the end of the first half and the Lakers continued to attack the Jayhawks net and scored 2 more goals in a little over 5 minutes to take the lead to 4-0.  The Jayhawks scored with an unassisted goal by #15 Caylee Shelters (Jamestown) with 7 minutes left but it was too little, too late as the Lakers downed the Jayhawks 4-1.  The Jayhawks defense was led by #0 Rebecca Butcher (South Dayton) who had 13 saves while facing 17 shots on goal.
