ROCHESTER - In a Sunday afternoon match, the Jamestown Community College men's soccer team pitched their second straight shutout, this time coming against NCAA Division II Roberts Wesleyan University by a score of 5-0.

The Jayhawks (10-4-2) were led offensively by freshman forward Alex Watt (Belfast, Northern Ireland/Campbell College) with three goals. Watt's three goals currently ties him for most goals in a career set by Gage Bird who set the mark from 2012 to 2013.

JCC got the scoring going early in the match with Watt scoring in the seventh minute off the assist from forward Tholo Malebo (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Crawford International-Lonehill). Watt scored his second goal in the 18th minute after a longball from freshman goalkeeper Gavin Roux (East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa/Selborne College) to make it 2-0.

The Jayhawks continued to show their offensive firepower 30 minutes into the game as sophomore midfielder Jesse Plaatjes (Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa/Northwood) pushed the lead to 3-0 as sophomore midfielder Tiago Aguilar found him for the score.

The scoring was not done there. Sophomore midfielder Mohamed Belmahdi (Compiegne, France/Lycee Pierre d'Ailly) got in on the fun, scoring in the 43rd minute as freshman winger Callum Featherstone (Hull, England/Barnsley College) set him up for the goal. The final goal of the match came in the 45th minute where Watt completed the hat trick thanks to the assist from winger James Cassidy (Glasgow, Scotland/Calderglen HS).

Roux earned the win in net, making three saves in 45 minutes of action. Freshman goalkeeper Paledi Lamani (Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa/Pretoria Boys HS).

The Jayhawks will close out the regular season this Tuesday, October 18th, as they travel to Gannon University for a 2:30 p.m. start time.
