FREDONIA – In the Battle of Route 60, the Jamestown Community College men's soccer team came away with a 4-2 victory Wednesday evening over NCAA Division III Fredonia State.

The Jayhawks (8-4-3) were led offensively by the standout freshman forward Alex Watt (Belfast, Northern Ireland/Campbell College) who tallied a pair of goals, tying the single season goal record of 11 set by Blake Barker during the 2012 season.

Watt got JCC on the board in the 23rd minute of action off the feed from midfielder Tshepiso Ntuli (Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa/Pretoria Boys HS). Watt came back in the 35th minute to push the Jayhawks lead to 2-0, this time getting the assist from James Cassidy (Glasgow, Scotland/Calderglen HS) to end the half.

The Blue Devils did answer early in the second half but midfielder Tiago Aguilar back to two goals in the 78th minute, scoring off a corner kick that went off the keeper's gloves. Shortly after, Fredonia State got one back to make it 3-2 with under 20 minutes of action to go. Midfielder Mario Alberto Campo (Santa Marta, Colombia/Gimnasio de los Cerros) pushed the lead back to two goals for good this time, scoring in the 87th minute.

Goalkeeper Gavin Roux (East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa/Selborne College) earned the win in net, making a pair of saves in 45 minutes of action. Goalkeeper Paledi Lamani (Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa/Crawford International-Lonehill) went the rest of the distance, making one save on three attempts.
