Jayhawks Feast On The Timberwolves

QUEENSBURY – Looking to keep their momentum going on the season, the Jamestown Community College men's soccer team defeated SUNY Adirondack Saturday afternoon by a score of 6-1.

 

The Jayhawks (6-3-2, 7-1-1 Region 3) were the first team to get on the board as George Glover (Leeds, England/Allerton Grange School) scored his first goal of the season in the 36th minute off the feed from Kim Magidhi (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Edervale HS). JCC would hold the 1-0 lead going into the break.

 

Coming out of the break, Jesse Plaatjes (Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa/Northwood) scored his third goal of the season as Mario Alberto Campo (Santa, Marta, Colombia/Gimnasio de los Cerros) found him for the score in the 49th minute. Tholo Malebo (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Crawford International-Lonehill) pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 56th minute as Josh Heim was credited with the assist.

 

Continuing his strong freshman campaign, Alex Watt (Belfast, Northern Ireland/Campbell College) scored his seven goal of the year with James Cassidy (Glasgow, Scotland/Calderglen HS) getting the assists in the 64th minute. Cassidy got his moment in the game in the 72nd minute, scoring off the feed from Glover to make it 5-0.

 

Mohamed Belmahdi (Compiegne, France/Lycee Pierre d'Ailly) was able to get his first collegiate goal in the closing minutes of the game as Plaatjes set the freshman up.

 

Goalkeeper Gavin Roux (East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa/Selbourne College) earned the win in net, making two saves on three attempts.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action tomorrow, October 2nd, as they take on Hudson Valley Community College for a 2 p.m. start.
