Jayhawks Dismantle Hudson Valley, 5-1

TROY – After an offensive onslaught, the Jamestown Community College men's soccer team erupted for five goals to defeat Hudson Valley Community College, 5-1 Sunday afternoon.

 

The Vikings got the lone goal in the first half of action to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

 

Coming into the second half, the Jayhawks (1-2) got the scoring going with a goal from freshman forward Ethan Richardson (Truro, England/Bridgend College) in the 54th minute to tie the game. Freshman defender George Glover (Leeds, England/Allerton Grange School) gave JCC the lead, scoring just over a minute later in the game.

 

JCC finished their scoring spurt with Richardson scoring his second goal of the game in the 58th minute off the feed from sophomore midfielder Jesse da Costa (Perth, Western Australia/SEDA) to go up 3-1.

 

Freshman forward Tholo Malebo (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Crawford International-Lonehill) scored his first collegiate goal in the 74th minute as the Jayhawks took a commanding 4-1 lead. Malebo capped off the scoring for JCC in the 82nd minute off the assists from freshman midfielder Josh Carr (Wigan, England/Standish Community HS).

 

Freshman goalkeeper Bryan Anderson (Ashville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) earned the win in net, making five saves on six shot attempts.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Wednesday, September 15th, as they travel to Finger Lakes Community College at 6:30 p.m.
