SANBORN — With hopes of reaching the postseason gone early after a winless eight-game start, Jamestown Community College's men's soccer team set a goal of finishing its final 11 games at or above .500.

The Jayhawks accomplished that goal Wednesday with a 10-3 victory at Niagara County CC.

"It was tough because we were injured early and it took us a while to get going. Once we got healthy, we played some pretty good soccer,"Jamestown CC coach Pat Anderson said. "Finishing 5-5-1 in our last 11 is a really good indication of where we are as a team. There were three other games where we could've come away with the win.

"We were playing really good soccer at the end of the season."

Felipe Diaz opened the scoring Wednesday with his second goal of the season from Ray Amborski at 6:47 of the first half before Tyler Pride scored his sixth of the season from Amborski 10 minutes later. Madani Ba made it 3-0 with his fifth goal from Jackson Rybicki at 25:23 before Brandon Greiner scored his second of the season unassisted at 38:43.

Rybicki put a stamp on a 5-0 first half when he settled a ball with his head around the 18-yard line, bounced the ball three more times off his head around three Niagara County CC defenders, and finished with his head at the 39:41 mark for his fourth goal of the season.

"I've never seen one like that in my career," Anderson said.

Amborski scored his sixth of the season from Pride to open the second half before the Thunder Wolves got on the board with goals from Kyle Gentile and Josh Horvath.

Justin Pincoski then scored on a penalty kick, Mel Hamlyn scored his second from Pride and Pincoski scored his second from Amborski.

After George Ssozi gave Niagara County CC its third goal, Carson Peters capped the scoring with his first of the season from Amborski, who upped his season assist total to 12.

Nick Mole made 12 saves in net for Jamestown CC (5-12-2, 4-12-0) while Robert Siejak and Noah Meister combined for 12 saves for the Thunder Wolves (2-13-0, 2-11-0).

Next up is the offseason for the Jayhawks, as Anderson looks to replace seven sophomores heading into 2018.

"You have to go right back out and recruit again to find some high-quality people to replace who we are losing," Anderson said. Amborski, Dan Skinner, Judah Herr, Greiner all played two good years for us. Hopefully this year's freshmen come back and help make up some of that. The new group we bring in will have to be good, come in and do the things those guys could do and hopefully do a little bit more."
