Second-Half Outburst Too Much For Jayhawks

BINGHAMTON — Three goals during a 12-minute span in the second half were the difference as Jamestown Community College lost to Broome CC, 5-1, in NJCAA Region 3 Division III play Saturday.

The Jayhawks (3-12-2, 2-12-0) trailed 2-1 at halftime, but the Hornets took charge in the final 45 minutes for the win.

Damian Rutan and Ismar Turkovic each scored their second goals of the game in the second half.

In the first half, Raynier Huggins got Broome CC (12-3-0, 10-3-0) on the scoreboard in the eighth minute before Melenio Hamlyn tied it from Tyler Pride in the 12th minute. Turkovic scored the go-ahead goal in the 36th minute.

Luke Duncan was the winning goalkeeper with seven saves while Nick Mole made five saves for the Jayhawks.

Jamestown CC is home today at 3 p.m. against Jefferson CC.
