Jamestown Community College went out of its division to play arguably its best game of the season.

The Jayhawks, an NJCAA Division III team, played Division I Monroe CC to a 1-1 tie on Wednesday afternoon at the Physical Education Complex.

"This is the first time we've taken a point from them in my nine years,"Jamestown CC coach Pat Anderson said. "I'd love to play in our region and pick up points, but this was a good game for us. We learned some things."

The Tribunes' Kevin Kabongo opened the scoring off a cross from Mewah Nyeayea at the 25:27 mark of the first half to take a 1-0 lead.

Jamestown CC's Madani Ba tied the game at the 35:33 mark when he stole the ball in the Monroe CC end of the field and beat the keeper from 15 yards away for his fourth goal in just three games played.

The Jayhawks pressured the Tribunes late with a pair of 1-on-1 chances on goal, but Monroe CC keeper Chris Wadsworth made two of his five saves to keep the game tied.

Nick Mole made nine saves for Jamestown CC, which returns to action Friday at Hudson Valley CC.
