Bird's Goal Sends JCC Men To First Soccer Victory

Nyle Bird scored the decisive goal Saturday afternoon as the Jamestown Community College men's soccer team won for the first time this season.

Bird broke a 2-2 deadlock with 14 minutes left in the game as the Jayhawks (1-7-1) edged Corning CC (1-8) in NJCAA Region 3 action.

The opening goal was credited to JCC's Ray Amborski from Tyler Pride at 23 minutes of the first half. 

At 38 minutes, Corning tied it at 1-1 on a tally by Kbemba Sano. Then, Scott Crowe connected on a pass from Melenio Hamlyn with 41 seconds remaining in the first half to put the Jayhawks back in front, 2-1.

Corning tied it, 2-2, at 17 minutes on a goal by Aalou Camgerluna only to see the Jayhawks strike back with Bird taking a pass from Madami Ba for the winning tally.

Nick Mole had eight saves for the Jayhawks and Tyler Morehouse had 10 saves in defeat.

JCC is in action at 3 p.m. this afternoon with visiting Lorain CC providing the opposition.
