JCC Swimmers Sweep Region 3 Weekly Awards

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) swimming and diving teams swept the men's and women's Region 3 Athlete of the Week awards for November 11th to the 17th.

Addison Lawson took home the women's honor. The Frewsburg product went five-for-five in her distance swims during the JCC Conference Meet and the Monroe Invite. The freshman won the 1,650 freestyle by almost thirty seconds, the 500 freestyle twice, the 1,000 freestyle, and was a member of the winning 400 freestyle relay.

Lawson and the rest of the ladies won both events to stay perfect on the 2024-25 season.

Kyle Dean captured the men's recognition. The Jamestown native had strong showings in both of the Jayhawks' meets last week. He earned 1st place finishes in the 200 freestyle, 200 backstroke, and 100 backstroke. Dean also took 2nd in the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, and 50 backstroke, breaking a pair of program records in the process.

The JCC men finished second in both events last week.

"Anytime that any of our athletes can get Region 3 athlete of the week, it's big for the team and for the individual. It shows the work they put in daily, in and out of the pool, and shows the athlete the work that they're doing is paying off," said head coach Todd Conklin.

The Jayhawks have a couple of weeks off before they return to the pool Friday, December 6th, for the Cortland Snowflake Invite held in Cortland, NY.
