Many Records Fall On Day Two of Regionals

ROCHESTER - Heading into day two of the 2023 NJCAA Region 3 Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Monroe Community College, the Jamestown Community College men's swimming & diving team continues to roll, setting numerous school, regional meet, and pool records.

 

After three sessions of action, JCC is currently in third place with 239 points.

 

To pace the Jayhawks in the morning session, Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) placed second in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 28.81, a new school record. Maxim Johnson continues his strong freshman season, placing first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 53.45, and new school record as well. Steven Zentz also performed well in the 200 yard freestyle, placing second with a time of 2:07.35.

 

The relay team of Johnson, Zentz, Keyser, and Josh Carr (Wigan, England.Standish Community HS) placed first in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.09. The same relay team came back in the 400 yard medley relay, placing first with a time of 4:20.04.

 

In the evening session, Zentz got JCC going with a second place finish in the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:05.78. Keyser also placed second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.28. In the 200 yard butterfly, Johnson finished first with a time of 2:01.61, a new school record.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action tomorrow, February 12th, for the final session starting at 10 a.m.
