BUFFALO - It was a light day for the Jamestown Community College men's swimming & diving team, only competing in two events after day one of the 2023 NJCAA Swimming & Diving National Championships at the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie Community College.

"Our guys got their feet wet," said head coach Todd Conklin. "Our guys posted some of their best times of the year and that is good signs to come."

Leading the way for the Jayhawks was Maxim Johnson (Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) who posted a new school record in the 50 yard freestyle, breaking the previous record of 22.95 with a swim of 21.66.

The trio of Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central), Steven Zentz (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS), and Josh Carr (Wigan, England/Standish Community HS) all swam their best swims of the year in their respective events. Keyser posted a time of 24.17 in the 50 yard freestyle, one second better than his previous time.
