Jayhawks Place Second In Non-Scholarship Standings At Nationals

BUFFALO – On the final day of the 2023 NJCAA Swimming & Diving National Championships, the Jamestown Community College men's swimming & diving team set more school records.

The Jayhawks finished in eighth place in the overall standings and second in the non-scholarship division with 107 points.

"Our guys left everyone out on the pool this week," said head coach Todd Conklin. "The way that they rebounded from regionals and to come out and perform the way that they did at nationals, it's a testament to their hard work and determination."

Day four was highlighted by Maxim Johnson (Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) set more record in the pool. Johnson posted a time of 23.19 in the 50 yard butterfly, a new school and region record. Johnson also set the school record in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 47.57.

Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) posted a personal best in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.60.

The Jayhawks capped off the week with the 400 yard freestyle relay as the team of Steven Zentz (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS), Josh Carr (Wigan, England/Standish Community HS), Johnson, and Keyser posted a time of 3:37.28, seven seconds better than their previous best time.
