Jayhawks Swoop in Late to Sweep Broome

BINGHAMTON, NY - Call them the cardiac kids, call them the comeback kids, just don't call the Jamestown Community College baseball team defeated as they come back to defeat SUNY Broome twice in 4-2 and 9-7 victories.

The Jayhawks jumped out to an early lead on Broome in game one, with a Tim Beimel single to left that scored Mitchell McKinney to put JCC up 1-0. That advantage held until the 5th, when the Hornets brought home a pair to claim a 2-1 edge. The 2-1 score stayed into the top of the 7th, where Beimel doubled to left, driving in Timothy Johnson and Harley Hoag. A Broome error on the play allowed Beimel to round the bases and put Jamestown up 4-2. Lucas Marsh pitched the final two innings for the win. Troy Moussette got the start, allowing just one earned run over five strong innings. The win made it five-straight for JCC heading into game two of the doubleheader.

In game two, it was more of the same, with Jamestown jumping out to a 4-0 lead. The RBIs came from McKinney, Marsh, and Beimel in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Broome had a counterpunch, scoring the next seven runs to take command at 7-4 heading to the final frame. That's where JCC once again put on the rally cap. Johnson drove in De'Sean Rogers before Beimel knocked home Haryley Hoag, and JCC had the deficit down to one with runners on the corners. Beimel and Johnson wouldn't be on 1st and 3rd long, with McKinney getting a base knock to left to score two Jayhawks and give JCC the 8-7 lead. Hayden Hoag smacked a line drive to right to score McKinney for the final total of 9-7. Five Jayhawks pitched in this game, with Kodi Colton getting credit for the win.

Jamestown has now won six straight as they get ready to play Genesee Community College four straight games, with two at GCC on Saturday and two at JCC on Sunday.
