Jayhawks Go Toe-to-Tie with #7 Niagara

SANBORN, NY - Jamestown Community College went toe-to-toe with the #7 team in the nation on Thursday as they visited Suny Niagara for a pair of baseball games. The Jayhawks may have fallen in game one 5-3 and game two 7-5, but it wasn't for a lack of effort or opportunities.

In game one, JCC jumped out to a 1-0 lead when De'Sean Rogers scored on a wild pitch. The T'Wolved evened things up before the Jayhawks took a 3-1 advantage when Mitch McKinney doubled plating Timothy Johnson and Harley Hoag. The lead lasted into the 5th before Niagara went up 4-3 to ultimately win 5-3. It was a solid start on the bump for Troy Moussette, who allowed three earned runs in five innings. Eddie Bartoli came in to close the door with zero T'Wolved coming home in his inning, but it wasn't enough in the two-run loss.

In game two, Jamestown once again scored first, going up 3-0 in the 1st inning. The runs were scored by Rogers, Harley Hoag, and Johnson. JCC held a 3-2 lead in the 3rd when RBI from Lucas Marsh and Hayden Hoag made it a 5-2 edge for the Dirty Birds. Niagara rallied in the 3rd, pushing four runs across to take a 6-5 lead before winning 7-5.

The losses drop JCC down to 4-16 on the year.

These two teams are right back at it Saturday at noon. The Jayhawks are the home team this time, with the games played in Jamestown.
