Jayhawks' Bat Explode in Sweep of Corning

CORNING, NY - Jamestown Community College found some thunder in their bats on Monday, sweeping Corning Community College with, wins of 11-1 and 15-10. The Jayhawks put up 31 hits in the two games with the Red Barons.

Not only did JCC score 11 runs in the first game, but De'Sean Rogers threw a complete game, one-hitter. The sophomore was assisted at the plate by six teammates driving in runs: three from Mitchell McKinney, a pair each for Lucas Marsh and Bradley Babcock, and Timothy Johnson, Hayden Hoag, and Brandon Lobb each had an RBI. The 11 runs were the most in a game for the Jayhawks to that point.

That 11-run record didn't last long, with Jamestown plating 15 in game two. It started with firewards as sophomore Timothy Johnson hustled out an inside-the-park home run on a ball laced to right-center in the 1st. The Jayhawks would fall behind 4-1 and 8-5 before pushing six runs across in the 5th to go up 13-10. JCC held on for that final of 15-10. The RBIs came from a group of Dirty Birds: Johnson and Tim Beimel had three apiece, Rogers and Marsh each knocked in two, and McKinney had one. McKinney also earned the win on the bump going four strong innings while allowing three hits and two earned runs.

The wins pushed the Jayhawks' record to 4-13.

There's no rest for JCC as they visit Erie Community College for a pair on Tuesday afternoon.
