Baseball Battles Hard But Drop Two To No. 5 Thunderwolves

SANBORN - Taking the quick trip up Interstate 90, the Jamestown Community College baseball team battled hard against No. 5 Niagara County Community College Saturday afternoon but came up short in both attempts.

 

In game one, the Jayhawks (11-23, 9-13 Region 3 West) fell by a score of 3-0 and in game two, lost in a 5-0 decision.

 

Game 1: No. 5 Niagara County Community College 3 - Jamestown Community College 0

JCC collected two hits in the game with catcher Wyatt Hennessy (Mukwonago, WI/Mukwonago HS) and left fiedler Timothy Beimel (Saint Marys, PA/Saint Marys HS) each got a hit with Hennessy's coming by virtue of a double.

 

The Thunderwolves got on the board first, getting one run in the bottom of the second and adding on two more runs in the bottom of the third.

 

Alex Kemery (Youngsville, PA/Youngsville HS) went the distance on the mound, surrendering two earned runs and four hits.

 

Game 2: No. 5 Niagara County Community College 5 - Jamestown Community College 0

In the backend of the doubleheader, shortstop Nate Johnson (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) got the team's lone hit. Johnson also added two stolen bases.

 

N-Trip got on the board in the first inning, scoring two runs while adding two more runs in the third to take a 4-0 lead. The Thunderwolves added their final run in the fifth inning.

 

Tanner Potter (Trumansburg, NY/Trumansburg HS) earned the loss on the mound, going five innings while surrendering two earned runs on six hits. Walt Rybczynski (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis HS) came in for relief, going one inning while striking out one batter.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Tuesday, May 2nd, as they host No. 5 Niagara County Community College at 2 p.m.
