Six Jayhawks Named to WNYAC Baseball First & Second Team

 

Jamestown, NY - The Western New York Athletic Conference has named its 2019 first and second team representatives. In total, six JCC Baseball players received recognition with three players being selected to the first team and three to the second team. Freshmen third basemen Roberto Aracena, freshmen center fielder Paul Tripi, and sophomore shortstop Carlo Rodriquez were named as members of the WNYAC first team. Meanwhile, sophomore right fielder Caleb Caldwell, sophomore pitcher Braiden Blair, and freshmen pitcher Evan Harrison were selected to the WNYAC second team.

Aracena, the 6'-2'' third baseman from Miami, FL, had a batting average of .395 in twenty-six games played this season. Aracena was the team’s top hitter with thirty hits in seventy-six at bats and a slugging percentage of .513. Additionally, Aracena recorded three doubles, three triples and nine strikeouts as a pitcher.

Tripi, the 5'-7''center fielder from Cheektowaga, NY, had a batting average of .353 in twenty-seven games played this season. Tripi, made eighty-five plate appearances earning thirty hits and a slugging percentage of .435. Additionally, Tripi recorded three doubles, two triples, and ten strikeouts as a pitcher.

Rodriquez, the 5'-9''shortstop from Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, had a batting average of .354 in twenty-seven games played this season. For the Jayhawks, Rodriquez had twenty-eight hits in seventy-nine at bats with a slugging percentage of .430. Additionally, Rodriquez had two doubles, one home run, and eleven strikeouts as a pitcher.

Caldwell, the 6'-2'' right fielder from Frewsburg, NY, had a batting average of .267 in twenty-seven games played this season. He recorded twenty hits in seventy-five at bats and earned a slugging percentage of .373. Additionally, Caldwell had two doubles, two home runs, and seventeen strikeouts as a pitcher.

Harrison, the 6'-0'' pitcher from Ontario, CA, had a batting average of .255 in twenty-one games played this season. Harrison recorded twelve hits in forty-seven at bats with a slugging percentage of .298. Additionally, Harrison had two doubles and ten strikeouts as a pitcher.
