Jayhawks Split at Corning
Corning, NY.- On Thursday, April 18, The JCC Baseball team dropped its first game 8-4 of a doubleheader and would respond with a 6-5 win in the second during an NJCAA Division three matchup at Corning C.C.
 
Game one (L, 8-4):
Pitcher #14 Braiden Blair would start on the mound for the Jayhawks and would go through 5 innings and would be relieved by #5 Zach Kelley. JCC would strike first with an opening run but Corning would respond with 3 runs a piece in the first in seconds to push the score to 6-1 heading to the top of the third. Jamestown would eventually close the gap to 6-3with two runs in the third. Corning, however, would prove to be too much down the stretch and would eventually go on to take the victory in game one. 

Game two (W, 6-5):
Game two would prove to be a much more consistent performance by JCC as multiple Jayhawks made contributions at bat. Pitcher #23 Evan Harrison got the nod in the second game and would go the distance earning the victory and improving to (3-1) on the season. Jamestown would score all six of their runs in the third after finding themselves down 3-0 through two innings of play. The Jayhawks would rely on solid defense to stifle a late rally by the bruins to go onto seal the win.
The JCC baseball team moves to 7-6 overall on the season and will return to the field at Finger Lakes C.C. Tuesday, April 23, 2019.
