Athlete of the Week

11/11/15

We are pleased to announce Matt Caldwell as the Jayhawks Athlete of the Week for November 11, 2015.  He is a freshman Jayhawk and a member of the Swimming and Diving team.  Caldwell had three individual victories over the weekend at the Genesee Invitational, in the 100 Fly, 200 Individual Medley, and 100 Breast Stroke.  This propelled the Jayhawks to a team victory in the contest.

Caldwell was attracted to the team at JCC because he enjoys staying physically active through the sport.  He felt that he could use his abilities in swimming to benefit the school.  The team support and competitiveness of the events are some of the best things for him about the season so far.

For the rest of the season, Caldwell will continue to strive for excellence, improve himself, and hopefully place well at Nationals.  He would also to continue competitive swimming at a four year school after graduation.  For fellow athletes, his advice is to try many different things in life and work hard at them all; this helps to uncover true gifts and abilities.

Additionally, Caldwell also rows competitively for the Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association.
