Rudny Steps Down as JCC Volleyball Coach

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College has a vacancy as head coach for the volleyball team as Sally Rudny has stepped down after accepting a full-time postion with the Jamestown Police Department.

Rudny led the Jayhawks the last two seasons, compiling a record of 27-26 with two appearances in the WNYAC final and a regional runner-up in 2022.

The Southwestern Central School product guided six All-WNYAC performers, two All-Region 3 players, and a pair of Region 3 All-Tournament members and was the 2022 WNYAC coach of the year.

"We are sad to see Sally go. She embodied what it meant to be a Jayhawk, but we know she will be an excellent addition to the Jamestown Police Department," said Athletic Director George Sisson.

Rudny excelled in the classroom at JCC; in 2017, she was named the SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award.

She also went through the sheriff's academy program offered at JCC.

Sally was also a star athlete during her time as a Jayhawk.

"She was a fierce competitor, which paired with her skillset, made her one of the most accomplished student-athletes I've seen as athletic director," added Sisson.

A volleyball player at JCC from 2016-18, Rudny is at the top of the records in career kills (1.013) and kills in a season (583) while also ranking in the top 10 in career digs (591), digs in a season (337), career aces (146), aces in a season (84), and matches played in a career (69).

With her play on the court, Rudny was a two-time NJCAA All-American First Team selection, two-time Region 3 Player of the Year and First Team All-Region honoree, and a two-time Western New York Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

The search to replace Rudny has begun. JCC is looking to find her replacement soon.
