Hi, I'm Madison, and I play on the women's volleyball team at JCC. In high school at Southwestern, I played on both the volleyball and track teams. I was the JAVA team captain from 2012 to 2015, as well as the captain of my high school team as a senior during the 2014-15 season. Other recognition I received for my contributions include being named a First Team All Star, 2nd Team All Star, and Honorable Mention. For track I was on the All-Tournament teams at Cheektowaga and Olean in 2013 and 2014, and I finished second in our section my junior year. I currently am undecided in my major, but I plan to pursue a higher education in graduate school after finishing here.
Player of the Week Questions
Q: What attracted you to Jamestown Community College Athletics?
I was going to UB originally but my major didn't work out so I decided to come here because I didn't want to give up volleyball in the first place.
Q: Why the volleyball team?
I played everything when I was little, and my best friend's daughter played volleyball. I ended up falling in love with the sport myself. I've been playing for 6 years, this will be my 7th.
Q: What do you enjoy the most about college athletics?
I like that everyone tries harder and the intensity is a lot higher. The competition is better.
Q: What are your goals for this season?
Our coach thinks we're going to be making it to Regionals, but I think we can go to Nationals because we have a lot of talent. Personally I would just like to get better as a player.
Q: Where do you see yourself in the future? (career, life, etc.)
I want to transfer to a 4 year school and major in Interior Design and, if it works out, continuing my volleyball career. Then I will hopefully get a job in interior design.
Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring athletes?
Play as much as you can, and if you have the opportunity to play in college do it. You meet a lot of people through it and it's a great social opportunity.
Other Sports: I ran track in high school, and I used to do soccer and gymnastics. I was also in ice skating, golfing, cheerleading, and softball for a year.
