Jayhawks Finish As Runner-Ups; Kramer Named Swimmer Of The Meet And Year

ROCHESTER - During the final day of the NJCAA Region 3 Swimming & Diving Championships, the Jamestown Community College finished as runner-ups, tallying 476 points.

To start off the final session, Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS) started the day off for the Jayhawks, placing second in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 28.68. Fiebiger followed up that performance with a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 58.14. Stacey Blackler (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Edenvale HS) was right behind Fiebiger with a third place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.17.

In the 200 yard backstroke, JCC took the top two spots with Madison Kramer (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) finishing first with a new school record of 2:15.52 and Hannah Eckert (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) finishing second with a time of 2:35.46.

Continuing the winning ways, Lindsey Spitz (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) finished first in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:43.95. Kylee Hennessy (Warren, PA/Warren Area HS) also made the podium in the event, finishing fourth with a time of 3:22.55.

To round out the action, the relay team of Kramer, Blackler, Spitz, and Fiebiger placed first in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:59.88.

After the meet, Kramer was named the NJCAA Region 3 Women's Swimming & Diving Swimmer of the Meet while also being named the NJCAA Region 3 Women's Swimming & Diving Swimmer of the Year. Head Coach Todd Conklin was also named the NJCAA Region 3 Women's Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year for the team's accomplishments to this point.

The Jayhawks will now prepare for the 2023 NJCAA Swimming & Diving Championships that start on March 1st in Buffalo at the Burt Flickinger Center.
