Jayhawks Look to Carry Momentum Into Regionals

JAMESTOWN – Looking to carry over their unblemished performances into the postseason, the Jamestown Community College women's swimming & diving team will be competing at the NJCAA Region 3 Championships starting this Friday, February 11th.

 

The Jayhawks were undefeated in conference action, accumulating a perfect 6-0 and captured the Western New York Athletic Conference Championship for the second consecutive season. To go along with their perfect regular season record, JCC also placed first at the Herkimer College Invitational, JCC December Invitational, and JCC January Invitational.

 

"Overall we had a great regular season but anyhting can happen come postseason time," saod head coach Todd Conklin. "I believe we will do very well, we'll battle for the championship and see what happens. We'll continue to improve individually as we prepare for nationals."

 

Behind the success is Kaylee Constantino (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) who has set new school records in three events. Constantino set the mark in the 50 yard breaststroke (33.86) and 200 yard breaststroke (2:48.25) at the JCC January Invitational and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:15.58) at the WNYAC Meet held at Genesee Community College.

 

Constantino has been solid all season long, earning NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week four times throughout the season.

 

Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS) has been a strong swimmer for the Jayhawks, coming away with a NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week one time on the season and has multiple first-place finishes on the season.

 

Tia Moppert (Gowanda, NY/Gowanda HS) and Jade Vidas (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Parktown HS for Girls) have also been strong pieces to the team, bring their veteran leadership through their two-year runoff success.

 

The Jayhawks will compete in Session 1 on Friday evening at 6 p.m. with Session 2 and Session 3 happening on Saturday. Regionals will wrap up on Sunday at 10 a.m. All the action will happen at the Aquatics Center on the campus of Monroe Community College.
