Luque Sets JCC Career Goal Mark as Jayhawks Down FSU 5-3

FREDONIA, NY - It was a record-breaking night for Jamestown Community College's (JCC) David Luque, as his four goals helped propel the Jayhawks' men's soccer team to a 5-3 win over NCAA Division 3's Fredonia State University.

Luque entered the night one goal away from tying former teammate Alex Watt's all-time career goal mark at 21.

The sophomore didn't need much time to tie the record, scoring less than ten minutes into the game to give JCC a 1-0 lead and put Luque at the top of the record books.

After the Blue Devils tied things up, it was Luque finding fellow sophomore Dominique Malhomme, giving the Jayhawks a one-goal advantage once again.

This tally put Malhomme at 19 for his career, good enough for third all-time.

The assist for the Spaniard was his 58th point, advancing his own record for most career points in the process.

That goal and assist were just the beginning of the night for Luque. Later in the half, JCC went up 3-1 when David buried a breakaway goal set up by Ethyn Gilbert.

The beautiful boot to the bottom right corner of the net pushed Luque to the top of the Jayhawks' record books for goals. He is now the all-time leader in goals, assists, and points.

David wasn't done there. He added two more goals on the night, assisted by Braidan Govan and Craig Mthembu, respectively.

Luque now has 24 for his career. JCC is now 5-5-1 on the season.

They have a tough test coming up Friday at Cayuga Community College.

The dirty birds return home on Sunday when they host Lorain County Community College at 3:00 PM.
