Jayhawks fall to the Cougars in Region III Semifinals

BATAVIA – A strong opening frame from Genesee Community College seemed to be too much for Jamestown Community College, falling 3-0 in the Region III semifinals Thursday afternoon.

The Jayhawks (12-6-3) had created themselves opportunity for a score as six of their 11 shots were on goal. Harry Ward led the way for JCC with shots of goal with two. Christopher Calladine, Lucas de Oliveria dos Santos, Axel Richardson, and Dan Mattock also had shot opportunities on net.

The Cougars got off to a quick 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the match. GCC's first goal came off a penalty kick in the fourth minute. GCC was able to extend their lead to 3-0 after a goal in the 69th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jakob Moore saw 89 minutes of action in net for the Jayhawks, making 11 saves on 14 shots faced.

JCC finished with the most wins in a season dating back to 2012. The last time the team had a double-digit win season was in 2013 when they hit 10 wins.
