Jayhawks look to knock off the Kats in Regional action

JAMESTOWN - The Jamestown Community College men-s soccer team will face Erie Community College tomorrow evening in NJCAA Region III Division III action.

The Jayhawks (10-4-3, 1-1-1 WNYAC) has familiarity with the Kats, as the teams played just under three weeks ago. JCC will look to repeat as victors, coming away with a 3-1 win.

Freshman forward Harry Ward was able to get the Jayhawks in the scoring column, coming in the 27th minute of action off the feed from sophomore midfielder Michael Broughton. JCC would take the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Freshman forward Luuk Willemsen was able to increase the Jayhawks lead with a goal in the 65th minute thanks to the feed from Ward. JCC was able to put the game on ice a minute later with freshman wing Jesse Da Costa finding the back of the net off the feed from Luuk Willemsen.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jakob Moore went the distance in net for the Jayhawks, making eight saves on nine shots faced.

JCC will look to slow down Tim Ellis of ECC, who leads the team in points (nine goals, one assist) this season. JCC will also look to slow down Abdirahman Mberwa and Dylan Cummingham who have each scored four goals on the year, respectively.

The Jayhawks will look to apply the pressure on ECC?s goalkeeper Patrick Hernandez who has surrendered 2.34 goals a game.

The teams will square off Tuesday, October 29th, at Falconer High School at 6 p.m.
