JCC to face GCC in Region III semifinals

JAMESTOWN - The No. 6 Jamestown Community College will face No. 3 Genesee Community College tomorrow afternoon in men's soccer Region III semifinal match.

The Jayhawks (12-5-3) are coming off an impressive 4-0 sub-regional win over Erie Community College Tuesday night at Falconer High School. JCC got goals from Jesse da Costa, Michael Andalora, Axel Richardson and Tyler West in the winning effort.

The two teams have played each other earlier in the month, where the Cougars won 5-0. JCC was able to fire off five shots with two coming on goal. Jakob Moore made 15 saves on 20 shots faced for JCC. Moore and the rest of the defense will look to slow down the fast paced GCC offense.

JCC will have to go on the offensive early and often to give themselves a chance. The Jayhawks average 2.75 goals a game. JCC will face Adrian Bergman in net for GCC who has allowed just under one goal per game.

JCC will face a Cougars team that have been ranked in the top-10 nationally foe the whole duration of the season. GCC has a 15-3 record on the year with a perfect 4-0 record in WNYAC play. JCC will have to slow down GCC's potent offense who average 6.89 goals per game.

The Jayhawks will especially have to slow down Hiago Barros de Souza who has 30 goals on the season, which leads all of NJCAA Division III soccer. JCC will also have to slow down Ed Port who creates the offensive opportunity for the Cougars who has 30 assists on the year, which also leads all of NJCAA Division III soccer.

JCC will travel to Batavia to take on GCC for the Region III semifinals match at 3 p.m.
