Keefe, Warner Place at NYS Collegiate Championships

NASSUA, NY - Jamestown Community College made the trip to Nassau on Friday to get set for the New York State Collegiate Wrestling Championships on Saturday.

The Jayhawks returned home with two out of their four wrestlers making it to the podium.

In 184lbs., it was Kyle Keefe (Falconer, NY / Falconer, HS) making it to the championship bout after scratching out a 5-4 decision in the semifinals. Keefe dropped the title tilt, but it was still an impressive showing for the sophomore.

Freshman Gavin Warner (Jamestown, NY / Pulaski County HS) earned a fourth-place showing in 133lbs. Warner lost a hard-fought semifinal match by a 5-3 decision. Things didn't get easier for the Jamestown native as he lost by a fall at 4:08 of the third in the 3rd place match.

Teammates Ryan Parton (Macedon, NY / Penfield High School), 141lbs, and Nicholas Ewan (Jamestown, NY / Jamestown, HS), 149lbs, weren't able to reach the championship brackets in their respective weight classes.
