Three Jayhawks Place First At Thunderwolves Open

SANBORN – Continue their strong start of the season, the Jamestown Community College wrestling team competed at the Thunderwovles Open where they had three wrestlers finish first in their respective weight classes.

 

De'Aonte Hutchinson (Baltimore, MD/Edgewood HS) took home first place in the 125 pound weight class, going 2-0 on the day. In his first match, Hutchinson grinded out a 7-6 decision victory over Josh Gill of Niagara County. In the championship match, Hutchinson faced Gill once again and again, grinded out a 7-6 decision victory.

 

Luke Potts (Pittsburgh, PA/West Allegheny HS) placed first in the 133/141 pound weight class, going 4-0 on the day. In his first match, Potts needed extra time against Kordell Waiter of Lackawanna College, getting the 2-1 sudden victory-1 win. In his second match, Potts made quick work of Braulluo Hurtado of Lackawanna College by getting the fall in 1:49.

 

In the semifinal match, Potts faced teammate Brendon Ramsey (Panama, NY/Panama Central) where he got the medical forfeit win. In the championship match, Potts got the fall over Eric Guy of Garrett College, needing 1:13 to do so.

 

Mohammed Mustafa Salimi (Kabal, Afghanistan/Ghazi HS) continues to roll through his opponents, going 3-0 in the 174 pound class. In his first match, Salimi go the fall over Ethan Doctor of Garrett College in 1:04. In the semifinal match, Salimi got another fall, this time against Linden Amtoung of Garrett College in 1:27. In the championship match, Salimi got the medical forfeit win over Walter Jones of Lackawanna College.

 

Ramsey placed third in the 133/144 pound class with a pair of wins with Fareed Muhannad (Cleveland, OH/Garfield Heights) placing third in the 149/157 pound class with one win.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Saturday, December 10th, as they host Penn State Behrend and Hiram College starting at 2 p.m.
