Multiple Jayhawks Shine At Keystone College Round-Robin Tournament

LA PLUME, PA - Taking a trip south across the state line, the Jamestown Community College wrestling team competed in the Keystone College Round-Robin Tournament, wrestling against members from King's College, Rowan College South Jersey-Gloucester, and Keystone College.

 

Brock Johnson (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) went undefeated on the day, going 3-0 in the 197 pound class. Johnson got his first win of the day against Elijah Morder of Keystone College, getting the fall in 2:15. In his next match, Johnson grinded out a 12-8 decision victory over Nero Bono of Keystone College. In his final match, Johnson picked up another fall, this time over Mason Andreassi of RCSJ, needing 1:30 to do so.

 

Luke Potts (Pittsburgh, PA/West Allegheny HS) had an undefeated day as well, going 2-0. In his first match, Potts got the 12-8 decision win over Terez Sewell of Keystone College. In his final match, Potts got the fall over Michael Palinkas of Keystone College, needing 3:45 to do so.

 

James Rankin (Cleveland, OH/Garfield Heights) also went undefeated on the day, going 2-0 in the 149 pound class. In his first match, Rankin got the 8-6 decision win over Cameron Leslie of King's College. In his last match of the day, Rankin got the 8-2 decision victory over Alberto Rubi of RCSJ.

 

De'Aonte Hutchinson (Batlimore, MD/Edgewood HS) had a strong showing, going 3-1 in the 125 pound class. In his first match, Hutchinson was defeated by Patrick Horvath of King's College, falling in a 13-2 major decision. Hutchinson bounced right back, getting the 19-3 tech. fall over Shamar Baines of RCSJ.

 

Moving onto his third match of the day, Hutchinson grinded out a 12-9 decision win over Jacob McDonald of RCSJ. In his final match, Hutchinson made quick work of Kyle Miller of King's College, getting the fall in 1:49.

 

Mohammed Mustafa Salimi (Kabal, Afghanistan/Ghazi HS) also had a strong day, going 2-1 in the 174 pound class. Salimi dropped his first match of the day, falling to Kad Kravitz of King's College by a 9-6 decision. Salimi quickly rebounded,getting the fall over Joe Davis of King's College in 36 seconds. Salimi also made quick work of Fisher of King's College, getting the fall in 20 seconds.

 

Brendon Ramsey (Panama, NY/Panama Central) and Fareed Muhammad (Cleveland, OH/Garfield Heights) also picked up one win on the day.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action on Wednesday, November 30th, as they travel to Penn State Behrend for their first dual of the season.
