Torres tabbed as Region III Wrestler of the Week

JAMESTOWN - Sophomore Dan Torres (174) has been named the NJCAA Region III Wrestler of the Week after his first-place performance this past weekend at the Waynesburg Invitational.

Torres went 4-0 on the day including a pin, two wins by decision and a win in overtime. Torres knocked off Damani Wallace of Adrian in his first match, winning by fall in 2:56. In his next match, Torres bested Jaden Datz of Washington & Jefferson in a 3-1 sudden victory-1 win.

In the semifinal match, Torres defeated Connor Kwait of Ohio Northern, this time with a bigger cushion in a 5-0 decision win. In the first-place match, Torres gutted out a 3-2 decision win over Hunter Neely of Washington & Jefferson.

This is Torres's third Wrestler of the Week award this season.

Catch Torres and the rest of the Jayhawks next Wednesday as they travel to face region-foe Mercyhurst North East at 6 p.m.
