JAMESTOWN - Continuing his strong sophomore season performance, Dan Torres (174) was selected as the Region III Player of the Week for his performance this past week on the mat.
Torres, the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the 174-pound weight class, went 3-0 in dual action and added another win in an exhibition match. Torres also help the No. 13 Jayhawks go 2-1 in dual competition on the week.
Torres started his week with a fall over Draven Douglas of Mercyhurst North East. Torres was one of two wins for Jamestown as they fell to the Saints, 44-12.
Moving onto the SUNY Ulster Tri-Match, Torres helped the Jayhawks to a 2-0 day, picking up wins over SUNY Ulster County Community College and Union County College.
In the Union County dual, Torres picked up a fall while helping the Jayhawks to a 30-22 win. Torres also competed in an exhibition match, bumping up to 184-pounds and picking up a win by fall.
Moving onto the SUNY Ulster dual, Torres got a win by forfeit, helping his team to a 30-15 win.
This is Torres' fourth Player of the Week award.
