Jayhawks win streak continues

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Volleyball Team (20-5) hosted the Saints of Mercyhurst North East (6-14).  The Jayhawks also celebrated their sophomore athletes #3 Kaitlyn Hoth (Cherry Creek), #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown), #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean), and #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown).  The Jayhawks had won 12 matches in a row and would look to make it 13 at their final home game of the season.  The first set was closely contested early, with both teams keeping within a point or two of each other, but as the set got closer to the end, the Jayhawks began to gain momentum and pulled away from the Saints to win the set 25-19.  The second set saw the Jayhawks keep the momentum from the first set and not give it back as they dominated defensivley with a block party between #2 Destiny Portlow and #8 Erin Butman to win the set 25-9.  The third set had the Saints playing with urgency and they kept up point for point with the Jayhawks.  After the score reached double digits though the Jayhawks went back on the offensive to take the set 25-14 and win the match 3-0.
