Jayhawks break even at BC3 Invitational

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Volleyball team (3-2) went on the road to take part in the Butler County Community College Invitational.  Their first opponent was the Trojans of Allegany College of Maryland.  The Jayhawks were primed and ready and made quick work of the Trojans, dominating both sets (25-14, 25-10) to win the match 2-0.  The Jayhawks were led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) who had 10 kills and 3 aces; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 3 kills, 14 assists, and 4 digs; #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) had 3 kills, 4 aces, and 4 digs; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) had 3 kills and 3 digs; and #12 Elizabeth Swoger (Ripley) had 6 aces. 

The Jayhawks (3-3) second opponent in the BC3 Invitational was the Pioneers of Butler County Community College.  Coming of a dominant performance in the last match, the Jayhawks found a more formable opponent in the Pioneers as the Pioneers kept the Jayhawks on their heels and soundly defeated the Jayhawks in back to back sets (25-17, 25-18) to give the Pioneers the 2-0 win.  The Jayhawks were led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) who had 11 kills and 6 digs; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) had 6 kills; #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) had 4 kills and 10 digs; and #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 21 assists and 4 digs. 

The Jayhawks (3-4) third opponent in the BC3 Invitational was the undefeated Spartans of Northampton Community College (7-0).  The Jayhawks were still regrouping from their loss in their previous match and while the Spartans were running on all cylinders and this resulted in the Jayhawks being no match to taint the Spartans perfect record as the Spartans defeated the Jayhawks in back to back sets (25-16, 25-17) and win the match 2-0.  The Jayhawks were led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) 7 kills and 3 digs; #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) had 3 kills and 3 digs; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 12 assists and 7 digs; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) had 4 digs; and #12 Elizabeth Swoger (Ripley) had 5 digs.

The Jayhawks (4-4) final opponent of the BC3 Invitational was the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon Community College (0-6).  The Jayhawks had been in a slump after defeating their first opponent in the tournament but this changed against the Cougars as the Jayhawks dominated the games, defeating the Cougars in back to back sets (25-8, 25-7) to win the match 2-0.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) who had 8 kills; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) had 5 kills; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 18 assists and 5 aces; and #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) had 3 kills and 5 digs.   

Scoreboard
