Jayhawks Gets First Win In Front of Home Crowd

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College earned win number one on the season behind a balanced offensive attack, with four players reaching double-digits in the 72-66 victory.

The game started even with JCC taking a one-point lead after seven minutes of play. That's when the Jayhawks started to blow things open, going on a 14-1 run. The offensive outbreak was fueled by Aubrey Nicholson (Brooklyn, NY / Boys and Girls HS), who scored four of his 16 during that stretch.

The Bobcats cut the deficit to just six at the four-minute mark before another run by JCC. This time the fireworks were provided by Oscar Mance (Houston, TX / Lamar HS), who powered home ten on the day. The run to close the half would put Jamestown up 39-24 going to the break.

It was more of the same to start the second half, Jalyn Moorehead (Rochester, NY / Southerland HS) working the down low to put in a game-high 17. The Jayhawk advantage swelled to 26 with 14 minutes left in the game.

Bryant and Stratton started to chip away from there. JCC saw its lead dwindle to just six with 2:26 to play before Nicholson was able to get a fastbreak layup to go up 69-61.

The game stayed even from there, with Jamestown taking the six-point win, 72-66.

JCC eyes a winning streak this weekend when they travel to Niagara Community College for the NCCC Tip-Off Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
