JAMESTOWN - After a hot-shooting first half, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team fell to No. 16 Niagara County Community College, 97-75.

The Jayhawks (7-14, 0-7 WNYAC) were led offensively by Sheick Kourmora with 29 points with Markus Coleman adding 10 points. Three players finished with a team-high five rebounds with Kyle Butler and Donathan Daniels coming away with five assists each.

Jamestown found themselves in the hole early, trailing 9-4 in the first six minutes of action. In the blink of an eye, JCC went on a 20-0 run, making six three-pointers during that stretch. Coleman and Kourmora contributed with two three-pointers each while Butler and Daniels added a three-pointer each.

The Thunderwolves found some offense of their own, scoring three baskets to make it 24-15 in favor of the Jayhawks. Everytime NCCC would cut the deficit to single digits, the Jayhawks would always push it back to double figures with a made basket of their own.

Continuing to build on their offense, the Thunderwolves went on a 13-0 to take the lead at 30-28 with under three minutes to play until halftime. Both teams battled out the final minutes of the half, drawing even at 35-35 going into the break.

In the first five minutes of the second half, the teams continued with back-and-forth style of play with neither gaining much of an advantage. With the flip of a switch, the Thunderwovles went on an 11-0 run to take a 62-51 lead. The Jayhawks continued to battle, getting the game back within nine on multiple occasions. 

NCCC however built their lead, starting with Adam Hosseini converting his and-one opportunity with 11:31 remaining in regulation.

On the night, the Jayhawks went 28-for-69 (40.6 percent) from the floor while shooting 13-for-36 (36.1 percent) from beyond the arc. The Thunderwolves went 37-for-65 (56.9 percent) from the field and 7-for-21 (33.3 percent) from the three. On the glass, NCCC grabbed 42 rebounds to JCC's 29 rebounds. JCC did outscore the NCCC on the bench, 45-36.

The Jayhawks will hit the road this Saturday as the take on Mercyhurst North East at 3 p.m.
