Moffe and Kemp Score Double Doubles in Close Loss

The JCC Jayhawks men's basketball team (15-12) hosted the Tribunes of Monroe Community College (15-10).  In a classic matchup of two teams who have always battled for playoff contention and always have intense contests, add in two evenly matched teams and you have one seriously intense game.  The Tribunes got off to a fast start taking a 5-0 lead before things settled down.  Both teams played physical defense and aggressive offense and each time the Tribunes went on a run, the Jayhawks followed it with a run of their own.  When the first half ended, the game was close as expected with the Tribunes holding a slim 39-32 lead.  The second half somehow managed to be even more intense with each basket seeming more critical with each passing minute.    The teams swapped leads and seemed to match each other shot for shot during the first 10 minutes of the second half.  The breaks did not go the Jayhawks way and with less than 5 minutes remaining the Tribunes had established a double digit lead.  The Jayhawks battled back but time had run out on this day as the Tribunes downed the Jayhawks 82-75.

The Jayhawks were led by #34 Jean Toussaint who had 20 points and 8 rebounds; #12 Tyler Moffe had a double double consisting of 15 points and 11 rebounds; #32 Brandon Kemp (Brooklyn) had a double double of 15 points and 10 rebounds; #10 Derek Ice (Bronx) had 11 points and 5 rebounds; and #22 Dashawn Branch had 7 points.
