Jayhawks Pushing for Growth in 2023-24

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College men's basketball program is looking for team growth to key success in the 2023-24 season. Jamestown is coming off of a year with the highest of highs in a 93-83 win over #1 ranked Genesee, but also a string of lows in finishing the season on a seven-game losing streak. The trio of sophomores returning from last year believes unity can spark a successful campaign.

"Team goals are to create a winning environment around here so the ones to come next have a ground to start from and expectations. Obviously, to win, be above .500, win the most games in the conference. For me personally, do the best as I can as a leader," sophomore guard Jalyn Moorehead (Rochester, NY / Southerland HS).

"I just expect growth out of everybody. From the starters to the bench, I am expecting everyone to get better every day," said sophomore guard Nkosinathi Dlamini (Durban, South Africa / St. Charles College).

If the Jayhawks can gel as one cohesive unit, they will start to find their individual goals are within reach as well.

"Our expectations, well first off, is to win, but to be more of a team and not as an individual player. Help each other's success and get to the next level," said sophomore guard Matthew Bohurjak (Cleveland, OH / Lakewood HS).

The Jayhawks have a young - eleven freshmen - but talented roster as they enter a new frontier. Their journey begins with a home date against Lakeland Community College on Wednesday, November 1st, at 7:30 pm.
