ROCHESTER – Getting back in Region 3 play, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team fell to Monroe Community College Wednesday evening by a score of 83-70.

The Jayhawks (7-15, 1-5 Region 3) were led once against by sophomore guard Elgin Oliver (Pittsburgh, PA/Gateway Senior HS) with 16 points with sophomore guard Josiah Ransom (Birmingham, AL/Helena HS) adding 11 points. Forwards Traden Gray (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) and Josiah Diaz (Pawtucket, RI/Springfield Commonwealth Academy) each shipped in 10 points in the effort.

After trailing by two going into the break, JCC found themselves trailing by seven in the early part of the second half. Continuing to fight their way back into the game, the Jayhawks scored six unanswered to take the 54-50 lead with 12 minutes left in regulation thanks in large part to a pair of buckets from Oliver.

The Tribunes were able to regain the momentum by going on an 18-2 run to pull away.

JCC went 28-for-69 (40.6 percent) from the floor with MCC going 21-for-62 (50 percent) from the field. The Jayhawks had the advantage on the glass, grabbing 38 rebounds to the Tribunes 33 rebounds.

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Sunday, February 5th, as they host No. 5 Orange County Community College at 12 p.m.
