Jayhawks Fall to Lorain County On The Road

Elyria, OH - Continuing their road schedule, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team fell to Lorain County Community College Saturday afternoon by a score of 82-77.

 

The Jayhawks (3-5) were led offensively by freshman forward Josiah Diaz (Pawtucket, RI/Springfield Commonwealth Academy) with 12 points off the bench while sophomore guard Chad Chambers (Calera, AL/Calera HS) added 11 points. Sophomore guards Bam Toure (Jamaica, NY/St. Johns Prep) and Brian Fajardo (Bronx, NY/Aeci Charter HS) chipped in with 10 points each.

 

The Commodores jumped out to a 22-13 lead within the first eight minutes of the game but quickly found their offense, going on a 15-0 run to get the 28-22 lead. During the run, Fajardo scored five points with Diaz adding four points to provide the spark.

 

Lorain County did counter, retaking a 36-33 lead with under two minutes to go before the break. JCC made the most of the final few minutes, scoring the game's final seven points of the half to take a 40-36 lead into the break.

 

The teams continued to trade blows well into the second half, with neither team gaining more than a two-possession advantage.

 

WIth just over three minutes left in regulation, the Commodores pulled away, scoring seven unanswered to take an 80-73 lead to get the win.

 

The Jayhawks went 33-for-69 (47.8 percent) from the field while the Commodores went 36-for-85 (42.4 percent) from the floor. JCC had the slight edge on the boards, grabbing 45 rebounds to LCCC's 41.

 

JCC will be back in action on Monday, November 21st, as they travel to No. 6 Lakeland Community College for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
