Six Jayhawks Score Double Digits in Win Over BC3

JAMESTOWN - Looking to grab their first win of the season, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team came away with a 107-44 win over Butler County Community College Wednesday evening.

 

The Jayhawks (1-7) were led by forward Traden Gray (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) with his second consecutive double-double, scoring a team-high 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds (2 offense, 10 defense). The trio of Clinique Jackson (Rochester, NY/East HS), Gonzalo Luque (Madrid, Spain/Instituto Ortega y Gasset) and Elgin Oliver (Monroeville, PA/Gateway Senior HS) each had 15 points on the night. Kareem O'Brian (West Babylon, NY/North Babylon HS) and Joseph Scott (Houston, TX/Jack Yates HS) chipped in with 11 points each.

 

The teams went tic-for-tac through the first four minutes of action with the game tied at 8-8. JCC went on a scoring spree, scoring 13 of the game's next 15 points. During the run Luque scored six of the team's 13 points.

 

The offensive output continued throughout the half, gaining a lead of as many as 22 with Luque knocking down a three-pointer with just over a minute until the break.

 

Coming out of the break, JCC scored 13 unanswered with six Jayhawks contributing to the effort to go up 59-26 to put the game out of reach.

 

The Jayhawks went 44-for-77 (57.1 percent) from the floor while going 10-for-21 (47.6 percent) from beyond the arc. The Pioneers went 15-for-56 (26.8 percent) from the field while going 5-for-19 (26.3 percent) from three.

 

JCC took advantage of the Pioneers' mistakes, scoring 36 points off turnovers while BC3 scored five points off turnovers.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Friday, December 3rd, as they travel to Genesee Community College for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
