Sandhills CC (Men) and Joliet Junior College (Women) Swing for Early Lead at Golf Nationals Hosted by JCC

CHAUTAUQUA, NY - The first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Men's and Women's Golf National Championships are in the books at Chautauqua Golf Club, and on the men's side, Sandhills Community College Flyers picked up where they left off last year with a two-under to have a fourteen-shot lead after 18 holes. On the ladies' side, Joliet Junior College sits on the top of the leaderboard with a plus 104 to hold a 61-stroke advantage. 

There are currently three golfers under par for the guys, with the Flyers' Wyatt Beaver leading the way with a 68 to be four under par. He leads his teammate Vegas Melen by one stroke as we enter day number two. Dan Towell was Jamestown's top player with a 91 on the day to sit in 60 for the tournament.

Flipping back to the women, Ivy Burnett of College of DuPage paces the group with a seven-over 79. The returning All-American has a seven-stroke advantage on Sydni Sundstrom of Community College of Morris.

Round two tees off bright and early on Tuesday with the ladies having honors as they hit Chautauqua Golf Club for 9:00 AM starts.
