CHAUTAUQUA, NY - Jamestown Community College will host the 2024 NJCAA Men's and Women's Divison III Golf National Championships from Tuesday, June 4th to Friday, June 7th at Chautauqua Golf Club (CGC), with practice rounds taking part Monday, June 3rd. The field of 99 golfers will attack the Lake Course of CGC, looking for their spot atop the leaderboard. This is the 25th consecutive year that JCC has played host to the event, and the Jayhawks look forward to continuing that trend in the future.
The field consists of 25 schools coming from 12 different states and 10 regions of athletic competition. There will also be 15 women competing in the event, the most the tournament has seen in its illustrious history. The ladies will arrive from five different states and eight institutions.
There are four returning All-Americans on the men's side: Ben Read (Sandhills Community College) is the returning champion after shooting an event record 277 in 2023, Watcharakan Chankarn (Sandhills Community College), Stephen Bishop (Georgia Military College), and Patrick Murray (Union County College). On the women's side, there are also four returning All-Americans: Ellia Soydara (Minnesota State Community and Technical College), Nancy Davison (RCSJ - Gloucester), Alaina Villari (RCSJ - Gloucester), and Kylie Kadas (Westmoreland County Community College).
Jamestown finished 4th in the nation last year, and will have five golfers take part: Maxim Johnson, Jackson Sandhoff, Spencer Bell, Athanasios Bakas, and Brady Fye. Fye is the defending Region 3 champion after posting a 75 and 74 in their two-day tournament earlier this month. He finished 19th overall in 2023, missing All-American status by one stroke. JCC's best finish in the tournament came back in 2000 when they won the Division III championship.
This is a great event for the Chautauqua community as the teams each bring coaches, athletic directors, friends and family to Jamestown and the surrounding area. For more information on the tournament you can go to the event homepage on the JCC Jayhawks' website.
