Fye Wins Region 3 Golf Championship, JCC Finishes 4th

EAST AMHERST, NY - The trophy case at Jamestown Community College needs to make room for Brady Fye after he dominated the competition to win the Region 3 championship held at Glen Oaks Golf Course just outside Buffalo on Monday and Tuesday.

The Lakewood native posted a first-round 75 to take the lead after day one. The sophomore never looked back, carding a 74 on day two for a winning final score of 149. Fye wasn't alone near the top of the leaderboard, with teammate Jackson Sandhoff bringing home a 170, good enough for 14th place in the championships. The rest of the Jayhawks finished behind those two, with Athanasios Bakas scoring a 185, Dan Towell a 193, and Spencer Bell a 199. Those five JCC golfers earned their way into the regional tournament by shooting 90 or better in at least three competitions during the Region 3 regular season. As a team, Jamestown finished fourth overall in the tournament.

The Jayhawks now turn their attention to the NJCAA Division 3 National Championship, which JCC hosts at Chautauqua Golf Club from Monday, June 3rd to Friday, June 7th.
