Men's Baseball vs Tompkins Cortland CC

The JCC Jayhawks men's baseball team (NJCAA Div II, 5-16) hosted the Panthers of Tompkins Cortland Community College (NJCAA Div II) in double header action.  Both teams were ready for action and the 1st inning saw both teams score followed by the 2nd inning where both teams scored to go into the 3rd inning tied 2-2.  Often times this season, the 3rd inning proved to be a pivotal inning for the Jayhawks in a negative way but that was not the case on this day as the Jayhawks opened the scoring floodgate, putting 7 runs in during the 3rd inning and 2 more runs in the 4th inning to take a commanding 11-2 lead.  The 5th inning was scoreless for both teams but in the bottom of the 6th the Jayhawks scored to put the game away, downing the Panthers 12-2.  The Jayhawks offense was led by  #7 Noah Weinstein (Jamestown) who had 2 hits, 3 RBI's, and scored 2 runs; #9 Jeff Miller (Jamestown) who had 1 hit (a triple), 3 RBI's, and scored 1 run; #18 Michael Wilcox (Falconer) had 1 hit, 2 RBI's, and scored 1 run; #4 Justin Forster (East Otto) who had 3 hits, 1 RBI, and scored 2 runs; #8 Michael Keller (Clarence) had 3 hits and scored 2 runs; and #15 Connor Fitzgerald (Ontario) who had 1 hit, 1 RBI, and scored 2 runs.  The Jayhawks defense was led by pitcher #9 Jeff Miller who pitched the entire game, faced 28 batters, allowed 8 hits and only 2 earned runs, and struck out 3 batters.

The second game of the double header saw the Panthers of TC3 begin to catch fire.  They scored 2 runs in the 1st inning and 2 runs in the 2nd inning to the Jayhawks 1 score per inning to take a 4-2 lead.  The 3rd inning saw both teams score while the 4th inning saw the Panthers score again to take a 6-3 lead.  The Panthers stayed in control, keeping the Jayhawks off the scoreboard in the 4th, 5th, and 6th inning.  All that remained was the bottom of the 7th inning for the Jayhawks…and what an inning it was.  With the odds against them and their backs to the wall, the Jayhawks rallied in the bottom of the 7th, scored 4 runs, and snatched the victory from the Panthers at the last second to give the Jayhawks a 7-6 come from behind win.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #4 Justin Forster (East Otto) who had 2 hits, 2 RBI's, and scored 2 runs; #2 Cam Haberberger (Jamestown) who had 1 hit and 2 RBI's; #15 Connor Fitzgerald (Ontario) had 1 hit, 1 RBI, and scored 1 run; #18 Michael Wilcox (Falconer) had 1 hit and 1 RBI; and #7 Noah Weinstein (Jamestown) had 1 hit and scored 1 run.  On defense, the pitching of #14 Josh Jones (Cuba) (1-0) got the victory as he closed the game out facing 6 batters, only allowing 1 hit and striking out 1 batter.  The pitcher for most of the game was #10 Michael Williamson (Cuba) who faced 30 batters, allowed 8 hits and 5 earned runs, and struck out 3 batters.
