Men's Baseball vs SUNY Broome CC

The JCC Jayhawks men's baseball team (NJCAA Div II, 3-16) hosted the Hornets of SUNY Broome Community College (NJCAA Div II, 3-7) in double header action.  Both teams struggled to get anything going offensively until the bottom top of the 3rd inning when the Hornets began to occupy the bases and stung the Jayhawks putting 8 runs across the plate in the inning.  The 4th inning went scoreless and the Hornets added another run in the 5th inning for a 9-0 lead.  The Jayhawks were able to put points on the board in the 6th and 7th inning but the damage of the 3rd inning was far too great as the Hornets downed the Jayhawks 9-2.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #7 Noah Weinstein (Jamestown) who had 1 hit and 1 RBI; #18 Michael Wilcox (Falconer) and #4 Justin Forster (East Otto) had 1 hit each.  #22 Brandon Pistner (Amherst) (0-3) took the loss, pitching 2 innings while facing 19 batters, allowing 6 earned runs while striking out 1 batter.  #25 Jeremy Cole (Sherman) also saw action facing 16 batters, allowing 1 earned run while striking out 2 batters.

The second half of the double header saw a reversal of fortune for the Jayhawks.  The Jayhawks scored 2 runs in the 1st inning and 3 runs in the 2nd inning so that the scoreboard read 5-0 at the top of the 3rd inning.  Both teams scored in the 4th inning and the Hornets scored 2 runs in the top of the 5th.  The Jayhawks answered with a run of their own and following 2 scoreless innings, the Jayhawks had the 7-3 victory.  The story of the game was the pin point pitching of #18 Michael Wilcox (Falconer) (2-4) who took the win on the mound.  Wilcox pitched the entire game and faced 32 batters, allowed 2 earned runs and 7 hits while striking out 6 batters with one of the best sliders in the region.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #8 Michael Keller (Clarence) who had 2 hits, 2 RBI's, scored 3 runs, and stole 2 bases; #6 Jimmy Schuab (Falconer) who had 3 hits and 2 RBI's; and #30 Adam Gullo (Jamestown) who had 2 hits (including a triple), 1 RBI, and scored 1 run.
