Jayhawks Grind Out A Win On Sophomore Night

JAMESTOWN – To closeout regular season action, the Jamestown Community College volleyball team grinded out a 3-2 over Genesee Community College during the team's Sophomore Night.

 

In the first three sets, both teams were evenly matched with neither team winning by no more than two points. The Jayhawks posted set scores of 24-26, 25-23, 23-25, 25-14, and 15-12. Freshman middle hitter Cadance Main (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) had her best game of the season, leading the way with 17 kills with fellow middle hitter Rian Finch (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS) adding 10 kills. Sophomore Madison Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central) eclipsed the 40-assist mark for the third time this season, collecting 40 assists exactly.

 

On the defensive end, freshman libero Sydney Ulasewicz (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone Central) led the way with 25 digs with Johnson adding 22 digs. Finch made her presence felt on the net, collecting four total blocks (2 solo, 2 assists).

 

Prior to tonight's match, the JCC volleyball recognized four sophomores in Emma McCarthy (Olean, NY/Allegany-Limestone Central), Breanna Gilbert-Hopkins (Falconer, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central), Claire Pumford (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS), and Johnson for their hard work and dedication to the program during their time here.

 

The Jayhawks will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Erie Community College for the Western New York Athletic Conference Tournament. Action will begin at 10 a.m.
