Jayhawks Cruise Past The Thunderwolves

JAMESTOWN – In a Tuesday night WNYAC battle, the Jamestown Community College volleyball team took care Niagara County Community College, needing three sets to do so.

 

The Jayhawks (9-7, 8-2 Region 3) jumped out to an early lead in the first set of action and took that steam to win 25-19. In the second set, JCC carried the momentum over to earnt the 25-12 set victory. In the final set, the Thunderwolves battled early on but the Jayhawks came soaring back to win 25-16.

 

JCC shared the offense attacking, having three players with 10-plus kills. Outside hitter Emma McCarthy (Olean, NY/Allegany-Limestone Central) led the offensive attack with 11 kills with middle hitter Rian Finch (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS) and right side Claire Pumford (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) each collecting 10 kills. Setter Madison Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central) kept the offense on track, coming away with 36 assists.

 

On defense, outside hitter Mikala Einink (Clymer, NY/Clymer HS) had 16 digs with libero Sydney Ulasewicz (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone Central) and Pumford each chipped in with nine digs.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Saturday, October 1st, as they take on Corning Community College, Tompkins Cortland Community College, and SUNY Broome Community College at the Niagara County Community College POD. Action will start at 10 a.m.
