Jayhawks seek their third Region III title in as many years

JAMESTOWN - The Jamestown Community College volleyball will look for their third-straight Region III Championship this weekend at Niagara County Community College.

The Jayhawks (24-5) were rewarded the No. 1 seed for the tournament, having the best overall record in the region. JCC is coming off a loss to Genesee Community College last weekend at the WNYAC Tournament.

JCC will face the No. 8 Genesee Community College at 11:45 a.m., No. 6 Finger Lakes Community College at 3:30 p.m. and No. 3 Jefferson Community College at 5 p.m. They Jayhawks hold a 4-1 record against these team in the regular season. JCC has lost only three sets against their upcoming opponents, while winning 12.

The Jayhawks will look to their core group of Jenna Caskey, Maddy Russo, Karleigh Haines and Cameryn Hawkins to bring home the championship. Caskey, Russo, Haines and Hawkins were all named to the All-WNYAC team last week at the WNYAC tournament. Caskey was also named the WNYAC Player of the Year for her outstanding play in her sophomore season.

Matches will be played at the Main Gym on the campus of Niagara County Community College this Saturday and Sunday.
